Kathmandu, Kartik 1 – Saaf Women Championship is starting from today in Kathmandu. Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Bhutan and Bangladesh are participating in this competition along with Nepal. Today the inaugural match will be played between Pakistan and India. But if we talk about Nepal team, Nepali women’s football team is tagged as the runner-up. Nepal has reached the finals 5 times in total and so far 11 times but has not been able to win the title even once.
Even before this, the competition has been organized twice in the home ground. Nepal also reached the finals but could not win the title. Once again Nepal has reached this turning point and wants to become champion by winning the same title this time. Nepal wants that the tag of runner-up on it should be removed.
Nepal’s captain Angela Tumbapo Subba and chief coach Rajendra Tamang have claimed that this time they have only one goal and that is to become champion.
Regarding his preparation, Chief Trainer Tamang said – From our side we have made complete preparations. However, due to the women’s league, long preparations could not be done. Only about two weeks of training took place. Have not been able to work on endurance and physical part. But in whatever time we got, we have prepared thinking that we have to play only to win. We have to become champions. We are ready for the championship.
