Equity should be maintained in access to technology and distribution of returns – President Dahal

Kathmandu, Asoj 29 – National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal has said that the development of science, technology and innovation is providing various opportunities to make human life comfortable and dynamic.
Addressing the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Legislative Association in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday, he said that all citizens should have access to technology and there should be equality in the distribution of benefits, he added that such laws should be made and implemented effectively. This information has been given by the Parliament Secretariat.
He said that there is still a huge difference in the capacity development and access to information technology within our country and between countries. “More than two and a half billion people still do not have access to information. Therefore, we need to come together to meet the challenge and ensure equal access to the achievements of science, technology and innovation for all.”
He said that a law should be made to properly utilize the development and use of scientific technology for the benefit of the human community and to face the crises and challenges arising from it such as breach of privacy, cyber security, propagation of negative content. It is the constitutional responsibility to monitor the work of the government.
